Bohra Matrimony for Women: Privacy and Safety, the Way Family Would Want
Ask a Bohra woman why she hasn't tried a matrimony app, and you'll often hear the same worry: who is going to see my photos? Our co-founder Abbas Vajihi puts it simply: "A control as small as blurring your photos decides whether some women sign up at all." So we built those controls first.

You don't need to worry about which aunty sees it
Our community is close. That's one of its gifts, and it's also why so many women hold back from putting a profile online. A photo shared in the wrong place can travel from one family WhatsApp group to the next before lunch.
Bohri Cupid was built by a brother who watched his sister and her friends go through the search. Every privacy feature below comes from one question: what would we want for our own sister?
Privacy Blur: your photos, on your terms
Turn on Privacy Blur and your photos appear blurred on Discover. Only the people you like or match with see them clearly. You'll find it under Profile → Preferences → Privacy Controls → Enable Privacy Blur.
Want to check how it looks? Open the Preview tab in Edit Profile. You'll see your profile exactly as others do.
Hide your name
You can hide your name in the same way. Someone browsing Discover sees your profile, your interests and your prompts, but not who you are, until you've shown interest in them or you're chatting.
No screenshots
Men can't take a screenshot of a profile on Bohri Cupid. It's one more way to keep your photos from being passed around.
Conversations start on your terms
On Bohri Cupid, a chat opens only when you both like each other. Premium members can also send a direct chat request explaining why they'd like to connect. It arrives in your requests, and you decide whether to accept or decline. Nobody can keep messaging you without your say-so.
Everyone is checked first
Privacy controls matter most when you know who's on the other side. Every Bohri Cupid profile is reviewed by a person before it goes live, every photo is checked, and members verify with a selfie, a topi or rida photo and a government ID. Read how verification works.
Take a break whenever you like
Need some space? Pause your profile under Profile → Preferences → Pause Discovery. Your account is hidden but kept, and you can come back any time by tapping Start on Discover.
If something doesn't feel right
You can report or block anyone, from their profile or from your chat. Tap "•••" on their profile and choose Report or Block, then pick a reason. The other person isn't told. Blocking means you won't see each other on Discover or Likes, and it always sends a report to our team as well.
Career and marriage: you can have both
Privacy is one worry. Being asked to give up the life you've built is another. Arva, an architect who runs her own firm in Chennai, was told by more than one aunty to sacrifice her career and move wherever she found a good match. On Bohri Cupid she found Zuzer, an architect from Mumbai who understood her work completely. They were married 58 days after their first conversation. Read more Bohra love stories.
