Verified Dawoodi Bohra Profiles: How Every Member Is Checked
In a community as connected as ours, trust is everything. One fake profile or one bad experience travels by word of mouth faster than any advert. That's why verification on Bohri Cupid isn't a badge we hand out. It's a set of checks every member goes through, with real people making the final call.

Why verification matters in our community
The Dawoodi Bohra community is around a million people worldwide, and far smaller in any one city. Families know each other. Reputations matter. When you open a matrimony app, you need to know that the person on the other side is who they say they are, and that they're here for the same reason you are.
So Bohri Cupid checks every member in three ways. Technology does the first sort, and people make the decisions. As our co-founder Abbas Vajihi puts it: "Automation sorts and people decide."
Check 1: a person reviews every profile
When you finish setting up your profile, you send it for review. Until it's approved, you won't see Discover. Every profile is reviewed by our team, and our co-founders' mother, Nisreen Vajihi, reviews new profiles herself. The Mumbai Mirror called her "the aunty with super powers".
While you wait, the app shows your status:
Under review: moderators are looking at your application. Turn on notifications so you hear as soon as there's news.
Not approved: tap See Details to read what needs fixing, update your profile, and send it again.
Approved: you're in. Discover, Likes and Chats open up.
Not everyone gets through. Around 70% of profiles are approved. That's the point: only genuine Dawoodi Bohras, no exceptions.
Check 2: every photo is checked
Each photo you upload is checked before it appears on your profile, and shows "Reviewing…" until then. Your face needs to be clearly visible, and photos with inappropriate content are turned down. Aunty Intelligence, our AI assistant, also screens photos before a person reviews the profile.
It means the faces you see on Discover are real faces, and nothing on a profile should make you or your family uncomfortable.
Check 3: your verification score
Verification confirms that your photos really are you. It uses three photos, and each one adds to a score out of 100:
A selfie, taken in the app: 50 points. This one is required when you set up your profile.
A photo of you in topi or rida: 25 points.
A government ID: 25 points. A passport, driving licence or state ID.
Our team checks each photo. Your profile shows each one as Verified or Pending.
Why the topi or rida photo?
A photo in topi or rida is a small thing that says a lot. It's part of what makes Bohri Cupid a space for our community, and it helps our team confirm that a profile is genuinely Bohra.
You stay in control of your data
You can delete your verification photos yourself at any time: go to Profile → Preferences → Account Settings → Erase Verification Data.
What verification means for you
When you like someone on Bohri Cupid, you can be confident they're a real Dawoodi Bohra who has told us they're here to get married. That's the foundation everything else is built on, from our privacy features for women to what makes a serious groom's profile. You can also read how Bohri Cupid started.

Yes. Go to Profile → Preferences → Account Settings → Erase Verification Data. You can do this at any time.
